Our Philosophy

Sound Lab 1 uses a unique approach to teach you to take your music to the next level by giving you the skills necessary to start your music production career in your most important working and learning environment... your own home studio. 

• We feel that it is unnecessary to start your recording education by spending thousands of dollars attending big recording schools just to learn the fundamentals of sound and music production, when you can learn in the comfort of your own environment and use that money you have saved to purchase your own gear.  Don't get us wrong- attending a large, formal recording school has great benefits, and there are many we would recommend, but getting a solid foundation of knowledge and having some experience under your belt will only help you get the most out of your money spent if you decide to pursue certification or a degree in the field.

• We feel that these days it's easier than ever to produce professional music projects out of your own home studio, so it's just as easy to become an isolated one-man or -woman operation.  We feel that one of the most important aspects of production is learning how to interact and collaborate with other musicians and producers in the field. For this reason, you will not be working alone!  You will become part of a dynamic, interactive community of other musicians and producers from around the world.  You will forge strong connections and lasting contacts as you collaborate on projects that will challenge you to push your own music making to the next level.

• We feel that everyone deserves a chance to produce their own music.  These courses were originally going to be quite expensive, but we soon realized that there were many aspiring producers out there who could not afford this kind of tuition.  We would rather bring many creative individuals into our program from all corners of the globe, from all economic and cultural backgrounds.  We feel that drastically reducing the cost will help to accomplish one of our primary goals: creating a diverse, dynamic community of global musicians and producers in an interactive educational environment.

• We feel that being responsible for our planet and our environment is a consideration that every business should take on as a priority.  We are committed to environmentally responsible and sustainable practices.  We feel that distance learning is not only a fantastic way to learn, but is an environmentally responsible choice.  With no traveling or burning of fossil fuels involved, you are making an environmentally positive impact by choosing to learn through our program, from the comfort of your own home or studio.
